“Trine Søndergaard’s work … contains equal parts of the everyday and the solemn, and since her debut, the artist’s production has been characterized by undercurrents of melancholy, loss, and the idea of the image as a mental state beyond language. … She utilises a circular visual poetics, in which motifs and phrases from earlier works reverberate, creating meaningful connections. … Taken as a whole, the artist’s prismatically fragmented works provide an imagery for human states of consciousness and memory on a both personal and societal level.” – Curator Johan Sjöström.
Curator Johan Sjöström, Danish author Merete Pryds Helle and art historian Kristine Kern contributes to the publication with new texts dealing comprehensively and poetically with Søndergaard’s art.
